Add beautiful new material to your repertoire by learning classic Brazilian songs from the genres of samba, bossa nova, and choro. Learn a new song from each genre and examine its historical and regional roots. Study each song’s unique rhythmic feel and phrasing while exploring percussion instruments and patterns. We will sing songs in both Portuguese and English. The term ends with a student performance. Open to all!
Please note: This class culminates in a performance in the final week of the term (week 11). All Jazzschool student performances are free and open to the public! Please confirm your availability for the performance date (the week 11 class meeting date) before finalizing your registration in this class.
