This plugged-in ensemble delves into the repertoire of a host of contemporary jazz legends. From the soulful melodies of George Benson to the funky grooves of Marcus Miller, by way of The Yellowjackets, Grover Washington, Jr., and more! Develop improvisational skills, rhythmic vocabulary, and knowledge of contemporary harmonic concepts. Open to instrumentalists with intermediate or above experience. Culminates in a live performance at the end of the term.

Please note: This class culminates in a performance in the final week of the term (week 7). All Jazzschool student performances are free and open to the public! Ensembles take place IN-PERSON at the California Jazz Conservatory.

About Daniel Parenti
Performance experience with many jazz legends including Rosemary Clooney, Michael Brecker, and Lionel Hampton. Has released six full-length original albums under his own name. Has performed with many well-known Bay Area artists including Tommy Igoe, Billy Johnson (Santana), Frank Martin (Narada Michael Walden), Joel Smith (Walter Hawkins) and Lorn Leber (Jerry Garcia Band).
