Learn essential funk and R&B bass guitar essentials (fingerstyle and slap) applied to classic and contemporary bass lines performed by the masters of the idiom. Work on time and feel and learn how to compose and improvise your own great bass lines in the style. The instructor can also answer gear-related questions. This fun class is recommended for any bassist looking to deepen their understanding of funk, R&B, and related genres.
Michael Lindsey, widely known as “Tiny,” is a renowned bass player, performer, composer, and band leader who has exerted a profound influence on countless bands and musicians across the United States. Born into a family of musicians, Michael’s inevitable musical career took flight at a tender age. By the time he reached fifteen, he was already captivating audiences in local venues throughout the vibrant New York area.
Michael’s extraordinary ability to seamlessly traverse genres such as pop, R&B, rock, jazz, blues, funk, and gospel propelled him to forge a remarkable career, earning him a reputation as a highly skilled and versatile bassist and background vocalist.
Over the past 13 years, Michael has embarked on extensive tours across the United States, Europe, Japan, South America, and Africa, gracing stages alongside acclaimed artists including Grammy-nominated Ryan Shaw, award-winning R&B artist Joe, SunShine Anderson, Anthony Hamilton, Gavin DeGraw and many others.
