Sun. 3/10: 12–3 pm
The consummate guitarists’ guitarist, George Van Eps spent most of life defining and refining an approach to playing the instrument. This workshop will introduce his first method published in 1939, originally intended fo six string guitarists. This approach is at the core of both swing style rhythm guitar and basic chord melody playing, each of which will be explored in this session. Referencing early recordings, transcriptions, chord forms, and Van Eps own instructional material, the class will explore this technique both from a historical perspective as well as practical contemporary use.
