Back by popular demand and revamped for 2023!

This workshop provides specific study and exercises for developing scat singers, with a focus on learning the mechanics, practicing short melodic phrases and etudes, learning to better “hear the changes,” plus strategies for improvising an entire solo that is engaging and musical.

The path to scat singing is very similar to learning a language:
• Listen To Native Speakers [Singers]
• Learn Vocabulary & Grammar [Short syllabic, melodic, and rhythmic patterns]
• Practice Speaking Phrases [Melodic phrases]
• Express Yourself In the Language [Scat sing with recorded accompaniment]
• Become Conversational [Scat sing with live players or other singers]

The workshop is targeted for beginning to intermediate scat singers but would be useful for anyone. Come ready to sing!
