About Yoron Israel

“Israel belongs to the select group of drummers, Art Blakey, Max Roach, Paul Motian, and Ronald Shannon Jackson among them – who approach bandleading with fresh and distinctive vision. In both his playing and his writing, he avoids clutter, and he has succeeded in creating a band very much in his own image, embracing traditional values without aping past designs. It has a spare, concise quality even at its busiest.” – Neil Tesser, Chicago Reader

Yoron Israel’s varied credentials and illustrious career includes 12 recordings as a leader and over 200 recordings as an accompanist. He has performed, toured internationally, and recorded with such renowned artists as Sonny Rollins, Ahmad Jamal, Horace Silver, Art Farmer, Abbey Lincoln, Tony Bennett, David “Fathead” Newman, Kenny Burrell, Clifford Jordan, Jim Hall, Gloria Lynn, James Williams, Cedar Walton, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Oliver Lake, Eddie Gomez, Eliane Elias, Red Holloway, Larry Coryell, Joe Lovano, Tom Harrell, Roy Hargrove, Vanessa Rubin, Cyrus Chestnut, and Avery Sharpe, among numerous others.
