Join us for an exciting workshop featuring the Edu Ribeiro Trio as they discuss and demonstrate modern Brazilian rhythmic approaches! 

Drummer Edu Ribeiro, a five-time GRAMMY winner, has performed with a wide range of top artists including João Bosco, Yamandú Costa, Ivan Lins, Hamilton de Holanda, Mônica Salmaso, Leny Andrade, Leila Pinheiro, Stacey Kent, Maria Schneider, Brad Mehldau, Randy Brecker, Paquito D’Rivera, Sadao Watanabe, and Mike Stern, among many others.

Edu will be joined by guitarist Vinicius Gomes and bassist Noah Garabedian.

The trio will start by playing two or three songs, and then Edu will discuss his approach to developing new techniques and styles, and how they evolved from traditional styles. A Q&A period will follow, where attendees can ask questions and engage in discussion with Edu and the trio.

About Edu Ribeiro

Edu Ribeiro is a talented musician, drummer, composer, and teacher with a distinguished career in the music industry. He has won 5 Grammy Awards as a composer, producer, and instrumentalist, including Best Contemporary Jazz Album for “Randy in Brazil” by Randy Brecker in 2008, and Best Latin Jazz Album for “Song for Maura” by Trio Corrente and Paquito D’Rivera in 2013 and 2014, as well as for “Made in Brazil” by Eliane Elias in 2016, and “Dance of Time” by Eliane Elias in 2017.

In 2019, Ribeiro’s album “Folia de T’reis – Edu Ribeiro invites Toninho Ferragutti and Fábio Peron” was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Music Album.

Ribeiro holds a Bachelor’s degree in Popular Music from UNICAMP, a Lato Sensu in Education for Higher Education from UNIP, and a Master’s degree in Music from the Federal University of Bahia – UFBA. He has released over 15 albums both as a leader and collaborator in various formations. His latest personal work is the creation of the Edu Ribeiro Trio, which began in January 2022 and has been receiving critical acclaim.

As a founding member of Trio Corrente and Vento em Madeira, Ribeiro has performed on four continents and has more than 10 albums released. He has collaborated with some of the most important names in Brazilian and international music, such as João Bosco, Yamandú Costa, Ivan Lins, Hamilton de Holanda, Mônica Salmaso, Leny Andrade, Leila Pinheiro, Stacey Kent, Maria Schneider, Brad Mehldau, Randy Brecker, Paquito D’Rivera, Sadao Watanabe, and Mike Stern, among many others.

Ribeiro is also a dedicated educator, serving as pedagogical coordinator at the São Paulo State School of Music – EMESP/Tom Jobim and a professor of both undergraduate and graduate courses at Faculdade Santa Marcelina. He manages and teaches at his own e-learning website, Edu Ribeiro Music Workshop, and teaches classes and workshops in several schools in Brazil and around the world, including the Juilliard School of Music in NYC, the École de Musique Didier Lockwood in Paris, and the Brasília Music School.
