Begin the journey to playing the music you love, from Bach to Bill Evans and beyond. This class for new pianists covers foundational skills, including note reading, scales, chords, rhythms, and more. Class assignments are drawn from the required class texts, supplemented by additional music relevant to each student’s interests. The class meets in the Jazzschool piano lab, where each student is seated at their own electric piano.

Required texts: Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course: Lesson Book, Level One (Willard Palmer), and Piano Town Lessons Level 1 (Keith Snell) (Please purchase class texts from your preferred online retailer.)
