Please note: This class culminates in a performance in the final week of the term (week 11). All Jazzschool student performances are free and open to the public! Please confirm your availability for the performance date (the week 11 class meeting date) before finalizing your registration in this class.

About Susan Muscarella

PhD in Musicology, University of Évora, Portugal. BA in Music Composition,
UC Berkeley. Founding President, CJC, Inc.; Director, UC Jazz Ensembles 1984 – 89; composer, arranger and recording artist; performances at major clubs and festivals including Yoshi’s, Keystone Korner, Great American Music Hall and the Lighthouse, and Monterey, Berkeley and Concord Jazz Festivals; featured on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz on NPR; recipient of a 2008 “A Team” Award from the Jazz Journalists Association; former member of the Board of Directors, Chamber Music America; recipient of the 2018 Benjamin Ide Wheeler Award; panelist at the 2019 Jazz Congress.
