The Jazzschool’s High School Jazz Camp is an exciting opportunity for young musicians entering grades 10, 11, and 12, plus graduating seniors, to delve into the world of jazz and related styles of music.
Led by accomplished professional musicians, campers will gain a solid understanding of jazz performance, including improvisation, theory, and ensemble playing.
Throughout the camp, students will hone their instrumental skills in ensembles focusing on various styles such as jazz, funk, Latin, and more. They will also take part in masterclasses, impromptu jam sessions, and private lessons.
Participants will have the chance to showcase their skills in a final concert at the end of the week. The camp is open to high school students of all skill levels and instruments (minimum prerequisite: basic familiarity with an instrument and knowledge of fingerings, etc.). Students will be placed in ensembles with other musicians at similar skill levels based on the results of a placement audition.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician, the Jazzschool’s High School Jazz Camp will provide you with the opportunity to improve your skills, learn from top musicians in the area, and make musical connections, all while having fun.
Space is limited, so early registration is highly recommended. Save $50 if you register by March 1st!
