The Jazzschool’s Middle School Jazz Camp is an exciting opportunity for young musicians entering grades 7, 8, and 9 to explore the world of jazz and related styles of music.
Led by experienced professional musicians, campers will learn the fundamental skills and techniques of jazz performance, including improvisation, theory, and ensemble playing.
Throughout the camp, students will develop instrumental skills in ensembles focusing on various styles (jazz, funk, Latin, and beyond) while also participating in masterclasses, impromptu jam sessions and private lessons.
Participants will also have the opportunity to show off their skills in a final concert at the end of the week.
The camp is open to middle school students of all skill levels and instruments. (Minimum prerequisite: basic familiarity with an instrument, knowledge of fingerings, etc.) Participants will be placed in ensembles with other musicians at similar skill levels based on the results of a placement audition.
Whatever your current level, the Jazzschool’s Middle School Jazz Camp will give you a chance to improve your skills and learn from some of the best musicians in the area, while having fun and making musical connections!
Space is limited and early registration is highly recommended. Save $50 if you register by March 1st!
Some need-based financial aid is available.
Refund Policy: No refunds after June 1. Before June 1, full refunds are available minus a $100 non-refundable deposit.
